Basic Breath Kriya

Sit in Easy Pose with neck lock on.
Eye Position: Eyes are closed . Press the eyes up gently to focus at the Brow Point. Let your tongue fill your upper palate and allow the tip on the tongue to come and rest behind the upper teeth.
1. Left Nostril Breathing: With the left hand in Gyan Mudra (tip of the thumb touching the index finger) rest the left wrist on the left knee. Close off the right nostril by pressing it with the right thumb, the remaining fimgerspoint upwards . Begin long,deep, complete yogic breaths, inhaling and exhaling only through the left nostril. Continue for 3 minutes. Inhale and suspend the breath for 10-30 seconds, exhale and relax.

2. Right Nostril Breathing: With the right hand in Gyan mudra, rest the right wrist on the right knee. Close off the left nostril by pressing it with the left thumb and pointing the other fingers upwards. Begin long, deep, complete yogic breaths, inhaling and exhaling only through the right nostril. Continue for 3 minutes. Inhale and suspend the breath for 10-30 seconds, exhale and relax.
3. Alternate Nostril Breathing: Hold the left hand in Gyan Mudra. Rest the left wrist on the left knee. Close the eyes and press the eyes up gently, focussing on the Brow Point. Allow the tongue to come to rest on the upper palate . Block the right nostril with the thumb, othere fingers pointing up. Inhale deeply through the left nostril. When the breath is full, close the left nostril with the right index finger, and let the right nostril open by releasing the thumb pressure. Exhale smoothly and completely through the right nostril. When the breath is completely exhaled, begin the cycle again with the inhale through the left nostril. Continue for 3 minutes with long , deep breaths. To end, suspend the breath for 10-30 seconds. Exhale and relax.
4. Alternate Nostril Breathing: Repeat exercise #3 but reversed: use the left hand to direct the inhale through the right nostril and exhale through the left.
5. Breath of Fire: Sit in Easy Pose with both hands in Gyan Mudra. Begin a powerful and conscious Breath of Fire. Continue for 7 minutes. Then inhale and suspend the breath for 10-60 seconds. Mentally follow the energy circulating through the entire body. Relax the breath and concentrate on the natural flow of the breath as life force for 3 minutes. Notice how your mind and emotions have changed.
Meditate in the same posture. Inhale deeply and chant LONG SAT NAAMS. Continue 3-15 minutes.
